The Houston Lifestyle - Sports Teams
Houston sports teams are winners in every senses, whether you follow the major leagues pros, the minor leagues, the college leagues, or even the junior leagues. Teams include all the major sports, including football, baseball, basketball, and soccer.
Football – The Houston Texans play in the NRG Stadium just south of the Texas Medical Center. The Texans are a member of the South Division of the AFL. Some of the Texans key players include J.J. Watt, Andre Johnson and Arian Foster.
Major League Baseball – The Houston Astros call Minute Maid Park home. The Astros are an American League team that has spawned such greats as Jeff Bagwell, Lance Berkman, Jose Cruz, Roger Clemens and Nolan Ryan.
Basketball – The Houston Rockets play in the Southwest Division of the NBA Western Conference. Their home is Toyota Center,located in the downtown area. Famous Rockets include Mario Elie, Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler and Robert Reid.
Soccer – The Houston Dynamo is an American Major League Soccer team founded in 2005. They won cup titles in 2006 and 2007. Houston’s most famous World Cup player is Brian Ching.
Minor League Baseball – The Sugar Land Skeeters are an American Minor League baseball team. They belong to the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an independent league not affiliated with Major League Baseball.
Little League – Houston is home to two championship Little League teams. The Pearland East 12 year olds are the Southwest Regional Champs, and the West University 13-16 year olds are the Senior League World Champions.
