Such an interesting evening! A friend and I toured the art studio of Patrick Palmer. Patrick is the Dean of the Glassell School at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and a prominent member of the Houston art community.

Patrick's current exhibition is titled "Memory Grids" and (as is typical of his painting style) features heads...  Lots and lots and LOTS of heads.  Says Patrick, "Simply put, I love to paint;  I really love to paint the human head."  The painting pictured here is called "Memory Bond II".  To me it illustrates how all of us carry people from our past around with us in our daily lives.

Thank you, Patrick! It was fascinating to see your artwork, in the place where it was created, and to hear it discussed from your own point of view.

Cost vs Value for Various Home Improvements

Homeowners frequently wonder "Is this home upgrade project worth it?" Many thanks to the folks at Hanley Wood LLC who have answered this question for 2014.  I love how some of the simplest improvements (a new front door) can have the most impact! Of course, most of us do these upgrades for our own use and pleasure - not for the next owner! But it is good to know where we can best invest our home improvement dollars.
