They must be able to work well with customers, and they must be able to collaborate with other agents. Above all else, successful agents must be good listeners and great "people" people!
Successful agents are both sales people and business people. They must be competent in the legal mechanics of contract law. They must be able to use appropriate technology, such as cell phones, tablets, and computers. They must understand the legal and tax consequences of being an independent contractor. They must grasp key marketing concepts and apply them consistently in their real estate practices.
It takes time to build a successful real estate career – you should count on three years or more. During this crucial development stage, you will need stamina, both physical and financial. A stable and supportive family environment is a huge plus.
Having said all that – come on in, the water’s fine! A real estate career can be one of the most satisfying professions on the planet. Because it is all about caring for other people as their lives are uprooted!
